Linger
Linger, just a moment longer here next to me...
Let your lips linger just a little longer on my forehead...
Let your arms stay around me a few seconds more as we linger here by the door...
Linger a little longer before driving away...
The time we can squeeze in together is so short...
I can’t help but ask that we linger just a little longer...
Linger in our goodbyes, just for a few seconds more....
Our time together goes so fast...
I know this is what we must deal with...
So sometimes I may ask you to linger,
Linger by my side for a little longer,
So, the time apart doesn’t seem so bad....
Linger just a little longer!
-Angela Stull
I wrote this poem after my love came to see me late one night after work. He was only able to stay a couple hours, which is hard on us both when we are not able to see each other on a regular basis. So lingering just a little longer is a wonderful feeling, squeezing out every possible second we can together.
